Can i substitute Shortening for Butter ? Do reply..TQ!

  3. Insightfulnana Says:

My mom always used 1 C whole milk to 1 TB of white vinegar and it worked just fine. I also understand that 1 C of plain yogurt works as well. However, I have not tried the yogurt with this recipe. Hope this helps.

2/3 cups of saturated fat, that’d kill you!

  6. Insightfulnana Says:

The results won’t be the same because shortening is a saturated fat while vegetable oil isn’t. Although made from oil, shortening has been chemically transformed into a sold state through hydrogenation. Shortening and veg. oil have a different compound make up. I have seen a carrot cake made with oil… but very few cakes are made with oil.

can i subsitute shorting for vege oil?

  8. Insightfulnana Says:

Shorting is a solid fat that comes from Vegetable Oil
Lard is a solid fat that comes from Animal Fat.
